Sue Hamey Passes

A mass will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at St. Francis Catholic Church, 600 East Washington Street (Route 18), Medina, Ohio.
This will be the only public service.
After the mass, friends and family are welcome at the Hamey home for food.

Mother Nature can sometimes be a fickle lady.
Back on February 28th, when the last of the snow fell, it was likely that some remnants of nearly 3 months of the white stuff would be around for the entire month of March.
After what seemed like an endless string of snowy, cloudy days, Mother Nature shifted gears and provided a wonderful combination of two weeks worth of above freezing temperatures and some rainfall that was able to clear the last of the snow from Dragway 42 this past Sunday.
Unfortunately, the term 'SOGGY' does not begin to describe the conditions in the pits at Dragway 42 after nearly 3 feet of accumulated snow melted over a period of 14 days.
With over 50 years of experience on what it takes to dry out the pit area at Dragway 42 so that the season opener is a drag race and not a mud bog, a decision has been made to push back the start of the track's 2010 Spring schedule by two weeks.
As previously announced, the events on Saturdays, April 3, 10, and 17 will each feature $10 total entry fee, all-day, 1/4 mile, Test and Tune programs.
With the track being closed on Sunday, April 4 for Easter, the first full weekend on the 2010 schedule will be Saturday and Sunday, April 10 and 11. That Sunday's event will play host another all-day, 1/4 mile, test and tune plus a free entry fee into an 1/8th mile Box/No Box combo race.
Gate opening times for these early season events will be announced a bit closer to the event.
As a reminder, the first of twelve scheduled Summit SuperSeries point events at Dragway 42 in 2010 is scheduled for Sunday, April 18th.

This past Sunday, Dragway 42 had a booth at the Northern Ohio Racer's Swap Meet at the Cuyahoga County fairgrounds in Berea, distributing copies of the 2010 track schedule.
During a conversation with an older gentleman at the event, we were asked if the track had any pictures of cars from back in the 60's. We explained that recently the track had been given access to a collection of photos from the late 60's and early 70's (which are part of what you are seeing in this "Looking Back" series of articles on Dragway42.com).
The gentleman went on to tell us how a friend of his had raced a Ford Falcon at the track during that time frame, but the racer's son never got to see the car, nor any pictures of it and how much it would mean to them if a photo could be found.
As good fortune would have it, the gentleman mentioned the car's name... "The Buccaneer", and it rang a bell as something that was in the collection.
It is our pleasure to present to that racer's son and the rest of our website visitors this Algon injected, Chevy powered Ford Falcon from 1968 at Dragway 42.
